*ವೈದಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ವ ಪ್ರತಿಭೆ ಯಿಂದ  ಮೆರಿಟ್ ಮೂಲಕ ಗಿಟ್ಟಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು M.B.B.S -MD -DM-DNB ಯಂತಹ  ವೈದಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಹೆಸರಾಂತ ಕಾರ್ಡಿಯೋಲೊಜಿಸ್ಟ್ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರು ಪಡೆದಿರುವ ಡಾ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ್.R. ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಸಮುದಾಯದವರು ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ. ಇವರು  ಶ್ರೀಯುತ ಎಚ್. ಎಮ್. ರಾಮಯ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ಲಲಿತ   ರವರ ಹಿರಿಯ ಪುತ್ರ, ತನ್ನ ಹುಟ್ಟೂರು ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಂಗಳೂರು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಮೂಡಿಗೆರೆಯ ಬಾಳೂರು ಎಂಬ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ  ಪ್ರಾಥಮಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಹೈಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ವಿದ್ಯಾಭ್ಯಾಸ ವನ್ನು ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತ ನಾಗಿ  ಸಾಧನೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ  ಕಲಿಕೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ  ಏನನ್ನೂ ಸಾಧಿಸ ಬಹುದೆಂದು ತೋರಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟವರು ಡಾ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ್. ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ, ಅಂತರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಸೆಮಿನಾರ್ ಕಾನ್ಫರೆನ್ಸ್ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರ ವಿವಿಧ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳು ಮಂಡಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿವೆ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ವೈದಕೀಯ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಲೇಖನಗಳು ಪ್ರಕಟಗೊಂಡಿವೆ. ಅಪ್ರತಿಮ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾಶಾಲಿ, ಯುವಜನರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಫೂರ್ತಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಹೃದಯಿ ವೈದ್ಯರಾಗಿರುವ ಡಾ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ್ ರವರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಸಾಧನೆ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಾಧನೆ ಅವರಿಂದ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಲಿ ಎಂಬ ಹಾರೈಕೆ.*

ಈಗ ಮಂಗಳೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವೃತ್ತಿ ಜೀವ ನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಡಾ. ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮ್ ರವರ ವೈದಕೀಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಜೀವನದ   ಕಿರು ಪರಿಚಯ.

Dr. R Purushotham is a well-known Interventional Cardiologist practising in Mangalore. He currently serves as Consultant & Interventional Cardiologist at AJ Hospital & Research Centre (Kuntikana, Mangalore), and as Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiology at the adjoining AJ Institute of Medical Sciences. In addition, he consults privately on weekday evenings at Care Speciality Clinic located at AJ Towers in Balmatta.  

Dr. Purushotham specialises in interventional procedures such as Coronary Angioplasty, Balloon Valvotomy, Pacemaker Implantation and Device Closure of Congenital Heart Defects. He has augmented his knowledge and skills by attending a large number of conferences and workshops in India and overseas, pertaining to his field of specialisation. He has also co-authored a number of research papers that have been published in the Indian Heart Journal and other journals of repute.

Dr. Purushotham studied for the MBBS at Dr. B R Ambedkar Medical College in Bangalore and received this degree in 1993 from Bangalore University. He did his postgraduation (MD Medicine, 1998) from Government Medical College in Miraj, which is affiliated to Kolhapur's Shivaji University. Dr. Purushotham then specialised in Cardiology, obtaining the double qualifications of DNB Cardiology (through G B Pant Hospital, New Delhi) and DM Cardiology (through Seth G S Medical College, Mumbai), in 2002.

Dr. Purushotham has been at his current posts since 2004. Prior to this, he spent a total of two years as Consultant Cardiologist, first at KEM Hospital in Mumbai and then at Manipal Heart Foundation in Bangalore.
